We were not able to have our annual Million Dollar Awards Banquet this year due to COVID-19 but wanted to recognize our recipients in our 2019 Million Dollar Awards booklet.

The Charlotte County Commission adopted a face covering resolution stating “every person living, working, visiting or doing business in unincorporated Charlotte County, including government buildings, shall, in the absence of social distancing, wear a face covering in any indoor location, other than a home or residence.”

The City of Punta Gorda unanimously passed a mandatory indoor mask mandate.

In consideration of the CDC’s requirements and our efforts to empower members to continue to navigate their real estate businesses during these challenging times, the association has implemented a NEW Lockbox Request Procedure that will safely and efficiently meet the needs of our members. If you must visit the office, we ask that you follow all CDC and Association required safety guidelines.

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation, on May 31, 2020, enacted the Emergency Order 2020-07, which extends the renewal deadline until December 31, 2020, for the holders of any licenses issued by the Florida Real Estate Commission with an existing renewal deadline falling within June 2020 through December 2020.

We have learned that a very large number of members and at least one local association have received demand letters and complaints from a law firm alleging violations of the federal and Florida Fair Housing Acts. The firm alleges that the members’ and the association’s websites fail to provide accessibility options for the disabled.

We have received some questions regarding holding in-person open houses from some of our members. Here is information from Florida Realtors regarding their recommendations for open houses as we are now in Phase I of Florida’s reopening.

Due to Governor DeSantis’ executive stay-at-home order, the Association office will begin limiting its hours, effective 12am on April 3rd for 30 days. The office will be open Monday through Friday from 11am to 12pm for Supra lockbox service only.

As the COVID-19 continues to be a growing public health concern across the country, the Association is closely monitoring the situation. We have taken the following steps in response:

The March 31, 2020, renewal deadline for real estate licensees has been extended once again. The new deadline is June 1, 2020.
