We Want Google
The community has successfully kicked off the Google Petition for "Charlotte Goes 'Google' for High Speed Broadband!" Some folks had some difficulty in forwarding the survey in the beginning, not noticing the Forward button at the bottom of the page. However; below is a direct link in case you are not sure how to bring it back.

Please be watching for photo opportunities at local events during the next couple of weeks, feel free to jump in the picture or create one for yourself and please forward your "We Want Google" pictures and home made videos to the facebook page by emailing charlotteflwantsfiber@gmail.com

GRI ONLINE
AT HALF PRICE

Florida REALTORS® has finally gone live with the online version of GRI-3. While many states offer parts of their GRI program online, we now join Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, California, and Wisconsin as one of the few states in the country that offer their ENTIRE GRI program online as an alternative to classroom delivery. The new version will be available for GRI designation credit only until final approval is received from the DBPR for CE and Post-Licensing credit.

To celebrate this new course, GRI-3 will be available at the price of only $150 for our members. This price will remain in effect until final approval is received from the DPBR for the online delivery format. If you were to take the GRI-3 course in a live format, you would not only pay $260 to $300 for the course, but you would have hundreds of additional dollars in travel, food, gas, and most importantly time out of the office.

Please click HERE to visit the Florida GRI website and register for this course at the discounted price of $150.00. Once you visit the site, just scroll down to see GRI-3 listed. Also, for those who have yet to take GRI-2, it is still available for a limited time at the $150.00 level.

RESPA - Good Faith Estimate & HUD Changes
Mark your calendar for March 25th from 9am to 11am. Come prepared to hear an in depth explanation of the new Good Faith Estimates, RESPA Rules and other changes to the financing and closing process. It is important that REALTORS are able to read, understand, and explain these new forms to their clients as well as for their own benefit. Local title companies have already seen closings postponed or fall through because of a lack of understanding the new processes and procedures. Make sure you are prepared. Expert mortgage consultant Lynne Lovern will guide you step by step through the new forms and local lender Odette Embury and title agent Carolyn Bagiardi will explain what you need to know to keep the closing on track. This event is FREE to attend. RSVP required, email David-Logan@comcast.net to RSVP. Refreshments provided by Odette Embury of Calusa National Bank.

President's Message
Bob Gray, 2010 Association President
Members,

What a busy and exciting week here at YOUR Association. There was truly something for everyone and I hope that you all had a chance to be involved in at least one of the events. Last Thursday night we had a fantastic turnout at our very first REALTOR/Business Partner Business Card Exchange at Calusa National Bank. I think that this is going to be a signature event for our Association and we look forward to seeing you at our future Business Card Exchanges. The very next day we had our March General Membership Meeting, where we heard from our Charlotte Stone Crabs Baseball Team, there were a lot of great prizes and one of the members walked away with a luxury box for 14 people at a Stone Crabs Game (valued at $450)! On Tuesday we had 97 members take their Short Sale Certification Course, taking advantage of our Association's partnership with WCR, NAR and REBAC; saving more than $175 per person in application fees for this priceless designation. I say all this to emphasize that the Association is doing a great deal for the members and I hope that you are taking advantage.

We have another exciting week ahead with the Business Partner Trade Show on Wednesday from 10am-2pm, our very first REALTOR Young Professionals Meeting on Thursday from 11:30am to 1pm and Friday our blossoming Commercial Group will be hearing from PG City Manager Howard Kunik. Please contact the Association at 629-8261 if you need more information and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
